Mr. Lioht, sugar expert, reports that for 11 months the beet production has decreased 189,000 tons, and he estimates that the campaign will show a decrease of 195,000 tons. (K«ceiTed August 23, 2 p.m.) London, 2£nd August. The b.s. Eimutaka left Plymouth yesterday for Port Chalmers. Captain Greenstreot is in command. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from their London office, dated 19th Augußt : — Mutton market firmer ; Canterbury mutton is worth 3Jd per lb ; Wellington, 3jfd. Lamb market iB easier ; prime New Zealand are worth, per carcase, s|d per lb. Beef market is quiet ; fore -quarters. 2|d per lb; hind- quarters, 3id per lb. Tallow market depressed ; fine mutton tallow is worth 25s 6d, and good beef 23s 6d, per cwt. New Zealand hemp market firmer ; medium is worth .£l9 10s per ton.
