The Township of Ohingaiti East is situated about 26 miles from Marton and about 10 miles from Hnnterville, along the North Island Main Trunk Railway from Wellington to Auckland. Tho Main Coach Road from Rangitikei to tho interior, runs through tho centre of the township. This road is completed to Murimotu, thus affording access to the Hot Springs district, Waikato, Napier, and other parts of tho North Island. The Manganoho railway station is distant about four miles, to which point the line will shortly bo open for traffic. It is confidently believed tta-t Oliingaiti East -w-ill then become the headquarters of a coaching firm, who havo arranged with Cook and Son to convey a large number of tourists to the Hot Springs District during the coming season. A large number of men are now employed forming tho railway line through tho township, and for several miles beyond. It is bolioved that tenders for the Makohine Viaduct will shortly bo advertised, and as this is a work of considerable magnitude, a large body of men will be employed for two or three years at its construction ; and as %t is only distant about ono milo, the township will derive much bonefit from tho expenditure. The whole of the bush on the northern portion has been cleared and laid down in grass, tho southern portion is partly under bush. No difficulty will be experienced in proenring building timber, as there is a sawmill in tho vicinity.
