iiVBMHO Post Office Saturday Afternoon Tha Customs duties collected at the port of Wellington for the week ending to-day amounted to £4899 2s 3d. Beer, £IG3 Gborob Thomas & Co. report produce prices as follows :— We have to note an advance in the value of oatmeal of £l per ton. Pollard and bran iB also vary firm at last quotations, and supplies aro limited. A degree of firmness is also noticeable in the price of best grades of oats. We , quote — Prime short oats, 2s; fair to good feed, Is lOd to Is Ud ; best descriptions of sheaf chaff, 75g ; average quality, 70s ; oatmeal, £10 5s to £10 10s ; baled straw, 555 ; roller flour, £11 to £11 5s ; ntone process, £10 to £10 ss ; bran, 85s ; pollard, 90i ; whole fowls' wheat, 3s ; broken do, 2s 6d ; wheatmeal, £11 ; feed barley, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; pearl barley, £15 ; maize, 2h 6d ; bine peas, 3s lOd ; split peas, £14 10s; prune Derweut potatoes, 40s; onions, £3; feod beans, 3s fltl; prime factory ; cheese is becoming scarce, and is fully worth 4{d | to 5d per pound; Canterbury tmms and bacon, B\A per pound ; fresh butter, prime, Is Id ; dairy parcels, lOd to Is ; salt butter, in kegs, lOd per pound ; limed eggs, la 6d ; fresh do, Is 9d per dozen ; honey, 4d to 5d per pound. Very large consignments of fruit have caused realisations to greatly reduce. Sydney oranges have ruled from 3s toss; mandarins, 6s to 10s ; lemons, 7s to 8s; bananas, Is to 3s per bnnch ; pines, 10s to 20s per case ; cocoonnts, 7s ; peanuts, 2d to 2sd per pound. Pears are scarce, and with apples are tke only lines realising decent values. The weather during the past week has militated against successful business, and to a great extent is responsible for the low prices now ruling. Poultry is dull of sale— Fowls, 2s 6d ; ducks, 3s Gd ; geese, Ss ; and turkeys. 4s to 6s per pair j Corn Exchanob report, Christchurch, 18th June, 1892 (per P. Denham, secretory) :— Wheat— Tho operations during the week have been limited and very perplexing j whilst we can easily gel: 3s 7d or a little over for prime pearl, we find it difficult to get buyers to tow the line for off sorts at last week's prices ; we presumo they are waiting to see results of early shipments, and 34s Sd per quarter does not seem eucouraging. Barloy—lnaotive at previous rates. Oats— A little more enquiry for primo milling. Potatoes— The Sydney market shows an improvement, but our local buynrs (and they are few) will not advance much on previous rates, which left a loss to the exporter; formers do not seem to realize that shippers must make a profit sometimes, or it would end in tho inevitable- result. Butter — Wo hear tho factory is going on very satisfactorily, aud it is likely to bo a very good thing. The following are prices paid to farmers, f.o.b. Lytteltou, packages extra (potatoes uxcepted) :— Wheat, 3a 7(1 ; oats. Is 9d ; barloy, 4s ; rye grass, machine dresiod, 3s 3d ; cocksfoot, brigkt and heavy 3}d to id ; butter, Is : cheese, 2}d to 4d ; potatoes, It's to 20s. country stations ; onions, £1 to 25s Messrs Edwanli & M'Beath roport for wages this week as follows :— Married couples, £70 to £90 ; carpenters, 10s ; bricklayers, 12s ; blacksmiths, 9s to 10s j painters and glaziers, 10s; plumbers and gasfitters, 9s to 10s ; storemen, 42s to COs j draymen, 42s to 50s ; coachmen, 30s to 355; grooms, 25s to 355; gardeners, 6s to 8s; farm hands, 15s to 255; milkmen, 25s to 275; hotel men, 20s to 40s ; barmaids, 25s to 30s; waitresses, 15s to 20s ; cooks, 25s to 40s ; female do, 25s to 355 ; housemaids, 12s to 20s ; general Ken-ants, 10* to 14s ; nursegirls and boys, 7s to 15s.
