? TREACHEROUS NATIVE SOLDIERS. THE PORTUGUESE PUT DOWN THE REVOLT. I UNITED FBESS ASSOCIATION. 1 Lisbon, 11th Maroh. Information has been received here to the effect that the authorities have succeeded in quelling the revolt among the native soldiers belonging to the Portuguese expedition on Lake Nyassa. In tho engagements 600 of the rebels were killed and 400 taken prisoners. On the Portuguese side eleven men were killod and 31 wounded. Zanzibar, 13th March. The report that Colonel Rogers had been defeated at Witu is not true. So far from suffering a reverse, he inflioted a severe defeat on the rebel natives.
