Sydney, 11th March. The total quantity of wool sold dnring the past year in New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia, waa 634,000 bales, valued at between six and seven millions sterling. At the Ainuri Sheep Fair, merino ewes, sound-mouthed, fetched 5s to 5s 6dj two, four, and six-tooth, 5s 9d ; cross-bred wethers, 15a 4d ; and cross-bred lambs, 8s 8d to 11s 3d. Oastabu, This Day. At Waimate yesterday, Mr. Burbury, on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, sold for Mr. A. Hayes, of Centrewood, 11,844 Bheep, which brought the best prices ever recorded in South Canterbury. Two-tooth crossbred ewes brought 14s 6d, two-tooth crossbred store wethers 13s, and crossbred store lambs 9s 2d. Buyers attended from all districts betwoen Christchurch and Invercargill. (Eeceived March 12, 11.30 a.m.) London, 11th March. The total amount of the reserve in the Bank of England is .£16,820,000. The proportion ot reserve to liabilities is 44£ per cent. Consols, 96. Three months' bills, If per cent. N.Z. 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 103*;3£do, 93*. N.Z. long-berried wheat, 44s 9d ; market quiet. Lamb has risen j-d, but frozen meat is otherwise unchanged. N.Z. hemp is in moderate demand ; common kinds have declined 15s ; superior Borts are unchanged. Kauri gum is in fair demand. The inferior quality has declined, but well -scraped selected sorts are firm, and fine pale is dear. For the latter, £12 is the quotation; fine hard scraped, ,£8 10s. Adelaide wheat, 445, quiet ; Victorian, 43a. German sugar, 14s 3d ; Java ditto, 15s T * flat.
