THE VOLUNTEERS.
Tho members df the Wellington Naval Brigade mustered in force for their weekly parade at the Drillshed last evening, under Lieut..- Commander Duncan and Lieuts. Campbell, Bell, and Hume. The company was divided into squads, those of the Starboard Watch receiving instruction in connecting up, knotting, splicing, and signalling, at the hands of instructors from the Torpedo Corps, and those of the Port Watch in gunnery, both practical and theoretical, under the tuition of two instructors from the Permanent Artillery. The big gun drill in ivhioh the Port Wntch is engaged has undergone considerable alteration of late, whereby the loading of the guns is more expeditiously done, and the work generally is of a far more interesting nature than that under the late system. Before being dismissed it was notified that rolley-firing would be proceeded with on Saturday morning and afternoon next, commencing at 4.30 a.m., and not in the afternoon, as notified by advertisement in another column ; blue uniform to be worn. The different cutter crews of the Wellington Naval Brigade are now going into active training for tho forthcoming Brigade races, and are likely to bring about evon more interesting ovents than those of last season.
