A mooting of railway employ6i, attended by 60 poraons, carried resolutions affirming tho desirability of establishing an Insurance Snperanuation Fund, but sugg:stinqf important amendments to the Commissioners' Eill, the principal being a limitation to insurance superanuation and the t^kin<j out of all sick benefits a>j interfering with Friendly Societies work ; tho contribution was adjudged too high, especially in tho case of men reoeiving low pay, and young hands joining the Bervico; the Govornment ought to subsidise the fund by at loaat 5s in tho .£, contributions to cease after the employ^ had subscribed for thirty years ; tho ago to be reduced to 55, or 30 years service; employes to bo oligiblo for a' pensicn after thirty yenrs service ; any employj; reduced in the seryico to continue his contributions on the basis of pay at tho time of reduction provided he has been in reoeipt of such pay for thrco years immediately preceding suoh reduction, or to have the option of applying such excess contributions, as between the higher and lower pay, to liquidate his future contributions until such excess is exhausted, after which the contributions are to be based at the rate of pay in clause 6. At tho previous meeting, attended by fully 250 persons, mainly from the Hillside workshops, a resolution affirming the desirability of a railway inauraneo sohemo was rejected by a largo majority.
