SPRING, 1891. SPRING, 1891. KIRKCALDIE & STAINS' FIRST GRAND DISPLAY OF EARLY SPRI__ NOVELTIES. WITH the commencement of this season wo have made strenuous efforts to surpass all previous endeavours, and havo succeeded in acquirinir one of tho largest and most COMPLETE STOCKS over shown in New Zealand. It is acknowledged by tho leading Journals of Fashion that the seaaon just ended at Home has been one of BRILLIANT FASHION. Our representatives have visited the London and Continental Markets with instructions to secure the very latest productions. The result of their efforts, we are pleased to say, prove eminently satisfactory. All the Needs of Fashion have been fully considered, and the unlimited assortment of handsome Textiles now displayed in the different Showrooms renders it an easy and pleasing task to select materials for Garments suited to evory taste and to all requirements. FASHION NOTES— In the WOOLLEN DRESS DEPARTMENT the variety iB practically unlimited.^ " Corduroy "is one of the leading materials for this season, light of weight and soft in texture ; Hhown in a variety of shades. " Summer Scotch Cheviots," showing rough and shaggy ovals and dots upon mixed or striped grounds are to be much worn. FRENCH CHEVIOTS, with smooth surface, both cheoked and plain. JACQUERED COSTUME CLOTH, Jacquered Beige Chintz, Stripes Jacquered Tweeds. FINE SUMMER SAXONYS, CAMEL'S HAIR TWEED, soft and pliant. When theße Elogant Fabrics are made up plainly, the Costume is shown to be of particular attractiveness. Following on the English season, Tweeds of all descriptions aro to be much in vogue, especially tho light textures, which make up well, and at all times aro very becoming to any figure, and so well adapted to this climate. DAINTY COTTON FABRICS, FOR SUMMER WEAR.— Tho assortment in this dopartment is unusually large and attractive. These Fabrics are shown in ovory shade of colour that is possible to be produced. Bright colours principally predominate, which are, however, in making up '" artistically " toned down, and aro refined and becoming. SCOTCH GINGHAMS.— Tho Fancy Woven French and Scotch Zephyrs, Checked and Spotted Ginghams, Prints and Zephyrs, in all tho now Floral Designs— " Running Vinos," Sprigs, or with small detached Flowers, " Violets," "Morning Glories," ".Carnations," &c. THE ASSORTMENT OF GOODS FOR OUTING WEAR IS ESPECIALLY LARGE AND VARIED. The NEW FLOWERED " ORGANDIE,". The NEW SILK STRIPED DELAIN, on light grounds, with very latest patterns, Floral, &c. The stock of Ddlaines for this season is the largest and best selected yet shown. We intend to load the fashion in these. POMPADOUR SATEKN, self-coloured grounds, with hieroglyphic patterns. This material will make a usoful and becoming Cpstume. BENG ALINE SILKS aro well worth inspection. Of tho productions of lato years this famous Silk retains its reputation. It is well adapted for this climate, possossing all tho characteristics of a light and rich Silk. Can be had in tho new colours, " Corn Flour," " Mouse," " Holiotropo," Cream, Whito, &c, &c. FRENCH FOULAKDS aro of soft texture, exceptionally light of weight, and for Summer wear aro greatly admired. These have dark grounds, qnlivened with scroll. Oval and other patterns. Any of the abovn-iaentioned materials will make useful and most serviceable dresses. ELEGANT ENGLISH NOVELTIES. NEW SUMMER CAPES, MANTLES, CLOAKS. DRESSING AND TEA GOWNS, &c, &o. It is seldom that at the commencement of a season such a complete change of Fashion could bo shown to have takon place in this dopartment. Tho modes of recent years have been discarded, and something altogether now has taken their place. The stylos just opened aro not only quite different, but aro becoming and attractive. THE NEW CAPE, with Flaring Collar and high shoulders, is one of the choicest novelties for this season. A style which will command groat attention this season in a tight-fitting Jaoket with shoulder drapery. | NEW LACE MANTLES, CAPES, and FICHUS, in great variety. NEW MACKINTOSHES for this season are very stylish, both in shape and j design of pattern. Checks, Stripes, and Plaids, are most in favour. I DUST CLOAKS, in all shades. Some very handsome noveltioß in DRESSING GOWNS are now being shown. The selection of these is of unequalled variety, and one of the principal attractions to this department.
