Later news from Samoa Bhows that the* report of the death of Tanuseae is true. He died on tho 17th of April, and his remains were buried on the following day in tho presence of a great assemblage. Tamasese was 61 years of age on 13th April. One of tho most destructive fires yet known in Fiji reoently took plaoo at Leruka. It originated in Uennings and Co.'s workshops, and sproad rapidly amongst the adjaoont bußUieas premises, including 11. Foreman's sail loft. Paßsing northward, it consumed Mr. W. N. Brace's two commodious boatekeds, and finally through superhuman efforts of many volunteers, was stayed at J. C. Forbes' ship-chandlery store. Hawksley'B fanoy toy repository was pulled down to oheok the fire. Tho total lobb is estimated at .£2500. The following are the insurances : — New Zealand insurance* Company— Henningß and Co.'s timber and toolß, .£200 ; machinery, £150 ; and Bruuo's stook, .£2OO. South Britieh-Braon's buildings, .£500 ; Foreman's shop, £150 Ham-burfe-Madgcburg Company — Hcnnings and Co.'b buildings and Btock, £440 ; Foreman's stodk, £100. An exceedingly hsavy flood visited Levuka on tho 25th ultimo. A Solomon Island woman wan drowned, owing to a bridge which she was orossicg being swept away.
