On Thursday Mr. Justice Denniston dismißsed with costs several applications for writs of mandamus compelling the S>denham: Borough Council to place on the burgess roll certain names. The matter has excited considerable interest. The approaching licensing election in Sydenibam is expeoted to be hotly contested , and recently over a hundred claims for insertion on tho Bnrjress Roll were received. The Council delayed dealing with them, said the Buprema Court wan accordingly m ?ved. His Honour held that it had not been sbo-wn that the Council was guilty of unjustifiable delay, or had been aotuated by improper motives, and therefore the Court conld not interfere.
