SEVENTH— The deaths among lives assured were 649 nndor 735 policies, causing claims upon the Society amounting to £299,602, lrronpective of Bonus additions, whilo the number expected according to tbe Tables used in CBtiin*tinif the liabilities would bave been 1143, for an amount of £438,976, the mortality oxporieoue being thus extremely favourable. EIGHTH — The receipts from interest and ronts were £51*3,832, an amount exceedinp the sum paid for claims by £138,952. NINTH— The expenses of management were only 9 5 per cent, of the total receipts. TENTH— The cash enrplus divided for the year 1889 was £426,494, being at tbe rate of 41*5 per oent. on tho preminmg reoeived. The operations of the society during the 41 years of its existence may be summarised asunder:— It has issued 141,907 policies, assuring £49,417,717 It has paid to the representatives of deceased members over £4,000,000 in satisfaction of death and matured claims. It has divided among the members cash bonusesaggregatingover .£4,000,000, yielding reversionary additions of over £8,000,000.
