Owing to tho heavy rains on Sunday the nutt River was vory much swollen, and carried" down to tho sea great quantities of timber and drift wood, which yosterday was thrown up on tbo bdach at Petone, where the residents in all directions wero to bo soen carting and carrying the wood for home consumption.
