1 PARLIAMENTARY PROTESTS. I A MISSING PASSENGER. [UNITID PBKSS ASSOCIATION.] i Sydney, 10th July. i The Legislative Council have pasßed the 1 Divorce Bill, and subsequently two protests, . signed by six members of the Counoil, were . entered on the Journals of the Counoil, re- • fleeting on tho action of the Lieut.-Governor, ' Sir Alfrod Stophan, who was aoouscd of ' lending a letter from Government Honae to ' the members supporting the measure before the final stage was reached. A warm debate took plaoe over the matter to-night, and ultimately the Counoil, by a large majority, 1 carried a motion to expunge the protests , from the Journals. Tho captain of the Tarawera reports that ' yesterday morning a steerage passenger ' named John Fitzsimmona, who embarked at " Lyttelton, was missed. All the passengers were mustered, and the ship searched, but no trace of tho man could bo found. It is [ presumed he jumped or fell overboard.
