Hitherto a polico strike has only been avorted by the advice of the elder men of the foroe. The Government is pressing' on tho Polioo Pensions Bill in the House of Commons. The publio are indignant at the intimidation employed by the men, and plenty of special oonßtableß are ready to volunteer. Over 30 of tho oon&t:bles who woresuFpanded have been dismissed, for refusing or hesitating to proceed on duty when ordered. There is considerable ezoitement, and many messages of sympathy have been roceived from other divisions. The Star states that 3500 men aro pledged to strike to-night. The quarrel with the postmen has reaohed an noute stage, and an important decision will be arrived at to-night. The Second Coldstroam Guards, cantoned at Wellington Barraoks, being ordered out for kit inspection, a body of men refused to parade, and looked themselves in their rooms. The staff was sent for, and the inspection abandoned. The men then paraded, hissing and hooting Colonel Maitland. The War Office is disonssing the matter, and the regiment will probably be ordered on foreign service. The men oomplajn of being harassed by unelen drills and need' less inspections.
