EARLY CLOSING. TO THE EDITOR.
Sin— l can no lenger refrain from asking your permission to say a word in reference to certain most ill-advised stepß taken to promote tho above.. I allude to the advertisements spread about to tho effect that " No well-bred lady ever does Bhop late," &o. Those were in very bad taste, but tho latest one, " No woman with any self-respect ever does it," ia positively intolerable. Haviug f-poken to other employers on tho hubject, I havo found them, like myself, unablo to decide whether the obnoxious phrttsos display most, of ignorance or impudence. When I think of tho ladies whoso presence or patronage ii an honour to any Hhop, who chooao oacaHiotially to shop on Saturday night, 1 foel I am quilo excused on behalf of othorß and mysolf in Blating emphatically that the employers havo nothing to do with, and aro annoyed as a body, at the odious production referred to. I am, &c, Employer. 20th April.
