Chbistohukch, This Dat. The opening of the Grand Lodge last night was a complete success. The attendance was confined to enrolled members of tho Grand Lodges, and 63 from all parts o£ the colony were present. The ceremony was simplo but impressive. After the proclamation, business was proceeded with, Bro. H. Thomson's eleotion as Grand Master was confirmed by acclamation, and, according to previous arrangement, all the other offices were filled by unanimous consent. The basis of union agreed to by tho Convention was adopted provisionally, with a few slight alterations in two articles. Bro. Ronaldson was appointed Grand Secretary, at a salary of J8250, to live in Christcbnrcb. Bro3. Gillon, Ham er ton, and Robertson were appointed to prepare the draft of tho constitution, for the consideration of tho Board of General Purposes and snbordiuate lodges before coming on in tho Grand Lodge. Hearty congratulations were reoeived by telegraph from various parts of the colony, including several lodges not previously associated with the movement. The utmortharmony prevailed, and the proceedings have given great satisfaction to all concerned. Tho installation of the Grand Master tonight is likely to bo a magnificent ceremony. Immense preparations have been made for the occasion, and as all Master Masons can. attend, a very largo gathering is anticipated. Bro. E. T. Gillon is installing officer. There is groat enthusiasm displayed here.
