The Canterbury Chamber and Immigration:
[Bt Tkleqbaph.] i united pebBb association. Christchuech. 13th March. The Chamber of Commerce to-night passed the following resolutions, consequent on Mr. Stead's resolution at the last meeting in favour of immigration : — "That the Crown lands of the colony should be surveyed without delay, and made available for settlement ppon each terms— even to the extent of leasing them, at nominal rentals— as would bo likely to attract desirable immigrants." " That in such case limitations should be put upon the area of land available for lease by eaoh Crown tenant, and regulations framed for making suoh holdings non-trans-ferable, in order to prevent the land being acquired for speculative purposes." " That bureaus should be established in Great Britain for disseminating information with respect to the capabhties of New Zetland, in order to show farmers and others the advantages offered for settlement, and for supplying general advieo to ir tending settlors, as well as aiding in mailing arrangements with shipping agents for economical conveyance to their destination,"
