The Railway Employes Conference.

The Railway Employes Conference closed last night Resolutions were pasaod requesting the Commissioners to abolish piecework ; that the men employed in the permanent-way department who inspeot the lengths before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. be paid overtime, or be allowed a full equivalent in time off ; that no department have less than one week's holiday for every twelve months' service, auah holiday to be taken collectively j that, in the opinion of the Conference, the shifting of employe's against their will from one plaoe to another ia bad and demoralising' in its effaots, and in most instances void of any advantage to the department, and that it should be discontinued ; and that the Executive Council take the neoeesary steps to have the retnrn asked for in Parliament of the ccmt of transfers of employe's since the Commissioners took offioe; that the Society be registered under the Trades* Union Act.
