THE GEDDIS INSURANCE MYSTERY. Brisbane, 22nd Ootober. With reference to what has been known as the Geddis mystery, the Courier understands that Messrs. M'Donald, Patterson, Fitzgerald, and Hawthorn havo made an offer on account of W. G. G. Geddis of a sum of £1440, with 5 per cent, interest, to the Australian Mutual Provident Society, in full satisfaction of the Booiety'a claim. The £1440 represents the amount of the claim, £2500, less the debts of young Geddis, and cost of proving the will and administering the estate. We believe the society promptly refused this offer, and that startling disclosures with roforenoe to the case ore not unlikely to be made in the near future.

Damages assessed at £17 ss, on oocount of injury done by water to a quantity of goods, were claimed by Hong Kew, a Chinese merchant, of Cuba-streot, from Mrs. Rose Hyams, a neighbour, in the Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon. The case was not concluded before the Court (rose, but was adjourned for argnment until Thursday next. In a case brought by the Commercial Trust and Loan Company against C. Skinner, a claim of £1 6s, judgment was given for the plaintiffs, with 7a costs,
