This company is formed for tho purpose of aoquiring by purchaso and working the mining rights of Charles Henry Turner, Esq., over— (1) 150 acres, demised by lease, datod 31st December, 1879, from tho Governor of New Zealand, aotintr undor " The Nativo Reserves Amendment Act, 1562," to tho Now Zealand Hematite Company, for twenty-ono years, and now vested in tho said Charles Henry Turner for the remainder of tho term ; (2) 120 acres in the Parapara District, domised by William Thomas Locko Travors, Esq., to tho Baid Charles Henry Turner, for ten years from dato of lease ; (3) Water-rights, now vested in the said Charles Henry Turner, to eighteen Government beads water ; together with right of constructing watorraces, dams and reservoirs, as issued to Thomas Adams, ami assigned to the said Charles Henry Tumor; (4) Any rights that may bo acquired by the said Charles Henry Turner under an application by Charles M'Neil for a Prospecting Area of throe hundred and twenty acres in the Parapara District. Tho lease No. 1, above, is subjeottotho payment of a royalty on all gold gotton iv tho land comprised thoroin, ot ono twenty-fifth of tho gold gotten, with a dtu.d rent of i>lo per annum co long as the said latid is not used for mining purposes ; and the lease No. 2, from the said W. T. L Travors, is cubjoat to the payment of tho puro royalty of ono twenty-fifth of tho gold gotten ou land comprised therein, but without reFerve of dead rent An estimate of the value of tho proporty may bo formed from tho following facts :— Two distinct leads of gold-bearing wash run through the native property, lease No. 1; and throe leads through No. 2, Mr. Travers' property. Messrs. Duncan, Tumor, and Logan carefully examined these leads, taking dishes of stuff from different points ou them, and bringing the results of each dish, separately packed, to the Colonial Musoum to bo weighed, with tho following result :— No. 1 Lead.— Sevon dishes of stuff roturned 9i}gr = 9dwts sgr per ton, value £1 13 a 7d. This lead is ontirely on nativo land. No. 2 Lead.— Six dishes, 2Jgr = 2dwts 13}<»r por ton, value 9-i sd. Ho. 2 Lead. — Threo dishes from aurface, lgr — 2dwts sigr per ton, value Bs. This lead passes through nativo lands and Mr. Travers' property. No 3 Load.— Four dishes, sJgr = Btlwts 21$grs per ton, value .£1 12s 6d. This lead passes through Mr. Travors' land, and the prospecting area applied for, but not through nativo land. Tho total number of dishes of wash, as tried above, was twenty. Tho average weight ot j, dish of btnft is fourteen pounds ; so 20 dishes = 2icwt. or ono-eighth of a ton of stuff, aud returned 18J grains of gold, bo giving thf< following deduction : — 8 x IS^ grains = 6dwts 2Jcfr per ton, @ 3s 8d t- 1 dwt = £1 2a <ld por ton of washdirt. A. previous test of No. 2 lead returned SJdwts per ton, equal to .£l lls 2d. The leads of washdirt are apparently in tho course of somo ancient river-bed, which, from alterations of lovols and change of watorshed, have boon left dry from past ages. The reason of those properties not having been worked is threefold— to wit : Ist, want of water ; 2nd, being on private properties; and 3rd, that what will give splendid returns from hydranlic working may and did give only fair to good wages to small parties under tho difficulty of treating washdirts on a small scale. Cost of Working.— An averago taken from five Califorman sluicing companies — wages, ie,, about equal to New Zealand, shows the cost to be 2Jd per cubic yard slniced ; the work done on same varied from IB cubic yards to 4 8 yards por sluice-hoad per hour ; the averago being 3 yards. Estimate : Under Parapara water rights, from 18 heads x 8 hours '■< 2 yards = 288 yards per day of eight hours. Quantity Available.— The depth of wash has beon te3ted to about 35 feet, and it has not been bottomed. So that presuming tho workings to produce thronghout anything approaching to samples (said samples being taken from vnrious points and levela <n tha different If ads), tho profit ought very quickly to letnrn all cnpital laid out upon it, and also etoady dividends. Cost of Plant. —lt is estimitod that the cost of dams, reservoirs, water-race?, piping, and plant for working the properties at two points will not exceed JMOOO. The Vendor, who has acquired the rights to tho various properties, has fisded the purchasing price to be paid by the Company for the property at .£3750 : of which will be paid in shares issued as fully paidup, and .£SOO in cash. The Vendor will pay all expenses of every kind connected with the company up to the first allotment of shares, including brokerage and procuring subsoription of capital. In addition to the above agreements, there ; are, or may be contracts entered into by tho Vendor with brokers and others with referonce to the Eubscription of capital, and preliminary expenses ; and subscribers for shares will be deemed to havo notico of all such contracts, and to have waived any right to further particulars ot same in this Prospectus. VVhoro no allotment is made, tho amount paid on application will be returned in full ; or if a less number of shares is allotted than applied for, the balance of tho deposit money will be applied towards the amount due on allotment. Special Note.— The Directors, in issuing thi3 Prospectus to tha public, have carefully confined themselves to a bare statement of facts within their knowledge. Thoy feel that those are of so satisfactory a character as to justify tho public in investing in tho shares of the company. Forms of application for shares can be obtained from HARCOURT & CO., Sharebrokers, Corner of Lambton-quay and Panamastreet, Wellington. SEEDS. SEEDS. f^i ARDEN AND AGRICULTURAL vTT SEED DEPOT. R. A.
