The Holcianga County Council were the defendants in an action brought by Alfred Ammon at the Hokianea Eesident Magistrate's Court. Plaintiff claimed j£27 damages for an accident to his horse, which fell into a hole on a bridge under the control of the Council. An application was made for a non-suit on the ground that the defendants , having no funds in hand, had advertised i that they would not be responsible for any '. damages through accident on the roads, and I that the plaintiff was guilty of contributory ! negligence. Judgment was reserved. ]
