The Dubbo Highway Robbery.
FURTHER PARTICULARS. IBy Telegraph.] {Our Own Correspondent.) [PER 8.8. WAIRARAPA AT THE BLUFF.] Sydney, 30th September. A great sensation was caused at Dubbo on Saturday night, 28th September, by aeveral men who, following one another in quick suceossion, reported having- been Btuck up and robbed by a masked man on tho northern boundary of tho town. The first man to inform tho polioo of the ontratje was a cabman named Massart, who was bailed up by a masked and armed man. The highwayman looked into the cab, and, finding it empty, told Massart to drive on. Massirt was goin<? to roport the mattor to the police, when he mot three men, who said that they had boen stuck up and robbed, and tied to a fence. Massart informed tb.B polioe, and, after arming him"elf with a rovolver, returned. He was challenged by two mon, who jumped up from an ambush. One of thoso men, who afterwards proved to be Sub-Inspcotor Cameron, said, "btand! Who are you?" Massart said, " Who aro you ?" and Cameron replied, " Never mind. Stand, or I'll shoot you !" Massart, thinking that he had again como aoross the robber, fired, and badly wounded Cameron in the right breast, his collarbone being smashed by the bullet, which had missed his lungs and the large artery. Ho now lies in a precarious condition.
