I.FBR 8.8 WAIBABAPA AT THIS BLUFF.] Sybnet, Ist October. In jho Steeplochaso at the A J.C. Spring Meeting, Petor Osbeok (the New Zealand horse), Artist, and Marmion received the most genuine support from the public. In the second round Quilp and Wallabi fell at a fence near tho six-furlongs post. Peter Oabeok was very injudiciously taken to tho front a mile from home, and his ridor drove him along instead of nursing him for the finish, Marmion having fallon and Artist oomin<r to griof at tho fence near the turn, the favourite waa loft with 20 lengths lead of Don, but Potor Osbock had boon ridden so determinedly that he was stopping to nothing, and Nolan, persevering with Don, reduced the gap at every stride, and, getting on terms opposite the stand, beat tho favourite cleverly. A protest was entered against Peter Osbeck for interfering with Artist during the race. After hearing the evidence the stewards disqualified Peter Osbook, and placed Artist second and Tho Artist third. Wallabi having broken his baok when he fell, waa shot. The Hon. J. White at the meeting won J25345 in stakes out of a total of .£13,012. | The result of the above raoe as received by cable was that Don finished first, but was disqualified, and the raoe awarded to Peter Osbeok.]
