Amongst tho wreckage is a board painted white, with the words " County of Carnarvon " in large gilt lottors. Thoro ifl overy reason to frar from tho abovo information that the ship County of Carnarvon, which loft Newcastle (N.S.W.), for Valparaino, on Ist Juno, has come to grief. She was a vessel of 1257 tons, and waa under tho command of Captain Roberts. She was built by Messrs. R. and J. Evans at Liverpool in 1877, and is owned by Messrs. W. Thomai and Co., of that port. Her dimensions are a.v follows:— Lonsth, 227 ft Cm; beam, 37ft ; depth, 22ft sin. She was classed 100 aI at Llovd'H.
