TN COMMEMORATION Of THE JUBILEE OF THE COLONISATION OF NEW ZEALAND, the ritopniETOfis or the EVENING POST Have determined to oiler tho sum of OA GUINEAS in Prizes for tho THJKEE BEST ORIGINAL POEMS ON THE SUBJECT OK THE FOUNDATION AND JUBILEE OF THE COLONY. The Prizes will bo as follows :— Ist Prize, FIFTEEN GUINEAS. 2nd Paize, TEN GUINEAS. 3rd Prize, FIVE GUINEAS. The Competition will be open to all residents in New Zealand, and tho award will be made by a competent and independent judge. Tho Prize Poems will be published in tho EVENING POST of SATURDAY, 18th JANUARY, 1890, and the Proprietors reserve the right of also publishing any of tho other poems sent in for competition. CONDITIONS. No poem mu6t exceed 150 lines in length. Thoy may be in any metre. Thoy must bo entirely original. They must be written in a clear and legiblo mannor on one side of the paper only. Thoy must bo addressed to tho Editor Evening Post, and be marked on the outside " Jubilee Poem." Eaoh poem must be signed with a motto or now de plume, and the real name and address of the author must bo onclosod in a sealed envelope marked on the outside with tho motto or norn de plume chosen. No manuscripts will be returned. Tho envelopes containing tho namos of the unsuccessful competitors will not bo opened. Tho real name arid address of tho writers will be attached to tho succossfnl poems when published. All claim to a prize will bo lost if the poom to which it may be awarded is in any way published prior to, or simultaneously with, its publication in the Evening Post.
