Unprecedented thunderstorms have been experienced at Ballarat, Sandhurst, and Casllemaine, all of which have been flooded, and great damage done. At Ballarat a woman named Baines and a man were standing conversing near a tree when the storm was at iti height. Tho woman was struck by ligktning and killed outright, while the man was soriously injured. Latest Intelligence. THE EIGHT HOURS' JUBILEE. A MELBOURNE SILVER MARKET SENSATION. (Eeceived October 7,1.15 p.m.) Sydney, This Dat. To-day being the jubilee of the eight hours' movement, a plose holiday is being kept. A large procession will march through the prinoipal streets of the city. Melboubne, This Day. There has been great excitement in the share market owing to tho advance in Round Hill silver Bhares from .£lO to £150. The inflation was caused by an attempt to rig a corner in this stock, but tho movement collapsed immediately. Ono broker connected with the corner has disappeared.
