[Bt Telegraph.] (Our Own Correspondent .) Palmerston North, This Dat. Mr, G. J. Bondry, manager of the Gas Works here, leaves for Melbourne shortly. The first gas engine in the district is now workincr at the Daily Times office. Mr. J. G. Wilson, M.H.R., received a vote of thanks and confidence at a meeting of his constituents at Foxton. Mr. Thynne, one of his opponents at the last election, proposed the motion. Mr. W. Leslie 1b making sketches of notable views in this district. The Working Men's Club's first Bocial gathering was a great success. The present custodian, Mr. J. J. Speight, deserves great credit for the wonderful progress it has made during his term of office. The Bowling Club here have made an offer to Rhodes' trustees for a rite for a ground. The rainfall last month in this district was the smallest for the last seven years. Cobb's celebrated Romney Marsh ram Shadrach died the other day from injuries received while fighting. He was taker of twelve first and special prizes.
