A USTRALIAN. MR. FINCH-HATTON'S APPOINTMENT
| UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Sydney, 2nd June. Two men named Salliors and Millar have been drowned by a flood in Manning River, Taree. In reply to a question as to the appointmont of Mr. Finch-Hatton as delegate to the conference regarding the Canadian cable, Sir Henry Parkes said that after the recent dispute between the late Government and the Government of Victoria concerning the place of meeting, the matter had been allowed to drop. He went on to say that so far aB bis Government was concerned no negotiations whatever had taken place, and unless 1 he Imperial Government had received special information on the subject Mr. FinchHatton's appointment was premature.
