[6t Tilegbaph. I [UNITBD PEESB ASSOCIATION.] Napibb, 12th May. Tho heavy rain whioh commenced on Thursday continued until this morning:. It ia several years since Hawkea Bay had Ruch a glorious downpour of rain. It was accompanied by a gale, whioh raised a heavy sea, and the Tarawera and Manapouri, which arrived in the bay yesterday, could not be tendered. Both steamers were detained until this mornitig, but it waa still so rough as to prevent communication, and they Bailed for Auckland and Wellington respeotively.
