Blenheim, 11th May. .A matoh took place to-day between F. Gaukrodger, a_ well-known Marlborongh pod, and J. Bain, a spniit ranuer hailing from Canterbury and Otago ; distances, 100, 220, and 440 yards, for .£2O aside. Bain won the 100 yards by about half a yard, but Gaukrodger ran clean away from him in the other two events. In the 440 yards Bain was beaten before half the distanco had been covered, and did not finish. The matoh oame off on (he racecourse before a largo number of spectators. pAtiMERsToN North, This Dat.
