[UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION] Dunedin, 17th January.

A number of leasehold runs were offered at auction to-day. There was a good attendance, and the bidding was fairly spirited. Several lots realised tho upset price, and they went back into the hands of the previous owners. Intimation has been receivod from the Primate that the meeting of the General Anglican Synod is postponed from the 6th to the 13th of February. This Day. The Colonial Sooretary advises the Exhibition Commissioners that it will cost £5000 to send over the pictures in the Melbourne Exhibition. The Colonial Secretary wires— " If your committee are of opinion that the pictures ought to be had, even^at something like the above cost, the Government will communicate their decision to Mr. Twopony, and ask him to do everything possible to lessen the expense; also will telegraph Agent-General to nse his best efforts to get as many of the pictures as he can." The Commissioners ask that Mr. Twopeny be instructed to report what portion of the loan collection is available, and the cost under the bost arrangement possible. An unusual amount of interest was taken in the meeting of parishioners of St. John's, Roslyn, last evening, and a pretty warm discussion took place over the election of parish churchwardens and vestry. The result waß an unqualified victory for the anti-ritualistic party, whoso nominees were all elected. New Plymouth, This Day. The last of our alleged perjury cases was concluded this morning, when Albert Edward Newson was charged with having given perjured evidence in the case M'Lonchlin v. Petrie, and was committed for trial at the Supreme Conrt. Auckland, This Day. It is estimated that £16,000 is paid annually in Auckland in Imperial pensions. At the United Methodist Free Church district meeting, the following is the second list of stations : — Auckland, Rev. F. C. Button ; Addington. Rev. J. Edwards ; Napier and Waipawa, Mr. Job Benning; Oxford, Revs. J. J. Pendray and M. Baxter ; Rangiora, Rev. H. Petters ; Reefton, Rev. J. W. Worboys ; Richmond, local arrangement ; Wellington, Rev. C. Genney ; Westport and Charleston, Rev. J. Wrigley. Mr. J. Benning was accepted as a candidate for the ministry subject to passing a satisfactory examination according to the connexionn.l usage. The Revs. E. O. Perry_ and S. Macfarlane were appointed examiners. It was resolved to hold the next district meeting at Addington, on Tuesday, 14th January, 1890.
