The Dunedin Exhibition.

» . A NEW^DEVELOPMENT. |Bt Telegraph. J {Our Own Corretpon&enL) Cromwell, This Day. Tho Ministerial party are greatly Burprised and delighted with the Lake Wanaka. aoenery. Mr. Twopeny, who accompanies Ministers, has suggested to Sir Harry Atkinson the desirability of the Governor and Government issuing 1 invitations in connection with the jubilee celebration to be held at the Dunedin Exhibition in January, 1890, to the intercolonial Governors and Premiers, together with representatives of leading English and Australian papers, to make a tour of the prinoipal scenery districts of the colony, starting from Dunedin and conoluding at Auckland, to catch the regatta week. Mr. Twopeny's idea is that if Government provides steamers and coaches the local committees in each district should pay hotel expenses for th 6 party. Ministers appear favourably inclined to this scheme, being impressed with the value of tho scenery and aspect of the colony, and the importance of advertising it more extensively. Several local authorities in the Lake distriot, to whom Mr. Twopeny has spoken, think there would be no difficulty about the local share of expenses. In order to show the fruitgrowing capabilities of these districts, he further proposed to have a speoial court for fresh fruit from eaah district, the fruit to be renewed twioo weekly, and ita constant Bupply would furnish a fresh feature to the Exhibition. At Cromwell the leading oitjzens are greatly taken up with this idea. [By Telegbafh.) | united pbesB aBBociation ] Dunedin, 10th December.
