GENERAL CONDITIONS. Arrival and Departure of Trains.— The Department does not pledge itself as to the despatoh or arrival of the trains at the exact time shewn in the Time Tables ; should oiroumstances render it impossible or inexpedient for a train to proceed, the fares paid will bo returned ; the Department doos not nndortako to forward passengers in such caseß. „ , Children.— Children undor three years of age are carriod froo ; above three and nnder twelve years of age at half fare. Passengers cor' bo booked at Btations conditionally only übat thero is room in tho train. „ Passengers entering tho train at a booJong station without a ticket, or having got in at a flag station, and not taking a ticket at tho proper booking station, will be charged ono shilling in addition to tho ordinary fare. Horses, Carriages, and Dogs.— TheDepartmont doos not undertake to forward horses, carriages, or dogs by any particular train ; but whon sent, they must be at tho forwarding station half-on-hour before the departuro of tho train. The owners of horsoß must provide means of scouring them in the horsebox, and the Railway Department will not be accountable for any injnries snstained through thoir breaking loose or otherwise, nor will it undertako to carry unbroken or vicious horses. At oountry stations requisitions for horßO-boxes or oarriage-trnckß .must be mado the day before they are , , . Dogs must be provided with chains, or other sufficient means of securing them. They will not be allowed m carriages,and 'the sender must obtain a ticket, to be given I up before the end of the journey, before the 'dog is delivered. . • Luggage. — Each passenger is allowed to ,tako 1121bs of personal luggage free (not including merchandise of any kind), and for every 561bs or fraction of 561bs above this 'weight, for every 50 milos or fraction of 50 imileß, the chorgo will be one shilling. No iluggage will be allowed to bo taken into the carriages, unless of such a size that it can be placed under the seat without inconvenience. The Department will not bo responsible for luggage whioh is not carried in tho van, or which passengers may have neglected to see labelled. Passengers having luggage to go by train must present it at |the station at least ten minutos before the .advertised doparture of the train, or the Do■partment will not bo responsible for its despatch. Passonjrers who have lost luggage ore requested to give notice to tho Stationmastera at once. The Department ; will not be responsible for any luggago or parcels improperly loft about the Btation premises. I Goods ana parcels to flag 1 stations, platforms, and private sidings, whore no officor of the Department is in charge, must bo propaid, and will be put out at such stations at the risk of tho consignee. Parcels must be at the station at least thirty minutes before the advertised time of departnro of the train by which thoy are to bo forwarded. . .
