A capital start saw Quibble, Captain Cook,' and Hermitage cut ont the running for half a mile, when Hermitage and Adulation took first place, just dear of Kimberley. At the half-mile post the lot took olose order, with Hermitage in the lead, The Brewer, Captain Cook, and Quibble at hia girths, and Wolverine- for the firrt time looking dangerouß. Racing toward home, Wolverine came with a grand rush on the outßido, followed by Sultan, and the pair simultaneously fretting on terms with Hermitage, a rare set-to ended in a head viotory for Sultan from Wolverine, with Hermitage a good third. For the Hurdles all entered, except Marmion, started, and the event was won by Ciyis, with Garibaldi seoond, and Trappor third. Trapper waa served up a warm favourite. Trapper led for a mile whon he was challenged by Civis, who raced him all along the baok, eaoh alternately leading. At the last jump Civis had a dooided lead, and stalling off a determined rush by Smith, -won an exciting race by half-a-length. Time, 4min 28|sec. Dividends, .£3 l4s 6d and .£3 19s.
