Intelligence has been received through deserters from Stanley's expedition that all was well at the end of October last, and that the party was plentifully supplied with provisions. Major-General Charles Henry Owen, R.A., has been appointed to the command of the defences of Portsmouth, and Director of the School of Gunnery, Islo of Wight. Wheat— Two Australian cargoes have sold at 34s 3d.
