Serious Tramway Accident.

A tramway accident of a serious nature occurred on Saturday evening at the corner of Cuba and Ingestre- streets, by whioh an elderly man named Eishard Hogarth had nearly the whole of the flesh torn off the left arm. It seems that as the car, driven by James Priest, was turning into Cnba-strcet from Ingestre-street, it was hailed by Hogarth. The driver tried to pull up, but the man attempted to jump on the car while it was still in motion. He apparently iniestd his footing, and slipped under the platform. The car was stopped at once, when it was found that tbe unfortunate man's arm had become jammed in between the rails and the wheel, the flesh and muscles being torn away from the wrist to the shoulder. Hogarth was picked up in almost a fainting state, and conveyed in the tram to Dr. Collins' residence, where his injurios were dressod. It was found that the bone of the arm had escaped injury altogether, bnt the flesh wound was of so serious a nature that the dootor recommended the sufferer's immediate re*

rnoval to the hospital. A cab was therefore obtained by a polico officor, and Hogarth waß taken to the institution, where he now Hob in a very precarious condition, very alight hopes being entertained for his recovery.
