The m-Jinary mooting of tho Hutt County t'ouncil was hold thin morning, thore being present— Messrs. Taylor (Chairman). Chow, Falknor, Monaghan, Jonos, Wakoham, Drown, Spoody, and Perkins. A deputation consiHtinf of Messrs. F. Dowsott, D. Williams, It. Duignan, and A. Collins, waited upon tho Council, and askrd for assistance in laying down a drain in Tinakori-road, near the Botanical Gardens. It was stated that about JCIOO had beon collected towards the cost of tho work. On tho motion of Councillor Monaghan it was tlccided that tho Chairman, Councillor Falkner, and the mover should wait upon tho City Council in roforonce to tho matter. Councillor Jones urged that London's cutting noar the Paromata bridge should be widonod. The Council agroed to do tho work. Tho Colonial Secretary wrote suggesting that as the date for elections of councillors foil on the Prince of Walos' Birthday, tho contests should not tako place until the 16th of that month. Tho Counoil adopted tho Bnggostion. A oircular was road from tho Waitaki Connty Council, asking tho co-oporation of tho Coonoil in obtaining legislation with roforonco to tho adontion of tomo simplemothod whoreby titioa to road lines exchanged or otherwise acquired for public use can be obtained.
