In response to a petition of 140 ratepayers in favour of the granting of the lease of the racecourse reserve to the Manawatn Racing Club, the Borough Counoil has appointed a committeo to revise tho bye-laws in order to permit the olnb to have the right to the Course, and no doubt all the petitioners require will now be granted. The Borough Counoil have passed a, resolution in favour of the orection of a weigh' bridge in Palmerston, for the benefit of tho conntry settlers, and a committee has been appointed to enquire into the matter. It has been decided to pay the claim of Mr. Hubbard in connection with the borough water supply £100, in settlement of all his claims for premium and commission. Fresh Bohomos and tenders will now bo oallod.
