WELLINGTON ARTILLERY CORPS.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir — With your permission I wish to say a few words about our local Artillery. There is a proposition on foot to start another Artillery Corps. It strikes a person rather ouriously to think we have the D Battery and Naval Artillery, and that the Governmont have specially imported large guns and thoroughly qualified instructors to show how to work them. Tho D Battery cortainly have the field guns and work them. I believe tho Naval Artillery also occasionally have a little practice with thorn ; bnt speaking truly, calling the Navals Artillery is a misnomer, becauso to my knowledge during the last five years the Navals have had every drill that has come into use. So to my thinking it is bettor to utilise our present Artillery to some purpose before forming another corps of tho same branch. I am, &c, 8 Years Artillery Volunteer. 6th December, 1886.
