The New Hebrides Question.
[BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH — COPYBIOHT.] THE PALL MALL GAZETTE'S OPINION. THE FRENCH TROOPS AT THE NEW HEBRIDES. A MASSACRE~PREDICTED. NOLO EPISCOPARI. [SPECIAL TO UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.] London, 10th June. Tho Pall Mall Gazette, in an article on the New Hebrides question, considers that the views expressed by Victoria in the matter were calmer than the facts of the cose warranted, and states that if a. single French soldier lands without the permission of England, the occupation of the islands will bo ensured. London, 11th Juno. Mr. Waddiugton does not believe that troops will bo landed at New Hebrides, but that a station will bo formed there, and M. Freycinot hopes for their early return. The French Socialist organ " Le Cri dv Peuple" declares that massacres will take place at the New Hebrides, and there will be a revival of the tactics displayed by the Frenoh troops in the fight with the Kromirs in Tunis in May, 1881.
