The Fire on Lambton Quay.

THE INQUEST. An inquest into the cause of the late fire on Lambton Quay was commenced this morning at the Oxford Hotel before Dr. Johnston, District Coroner, and a jury, consisting of the following 1 gentlemen :— F. J. Preston, Henry Sullivan, B. A. Marshall, Frank Moeller, Charles Hill, "William Carpenter. Mr. Preston was chosen foreman. Detective Inspector Browne stated that the prinoipal witnosa, Mr. Myers, was absent in Christohnrch, and he would therefore ask for an adjournment to Bubpoena Mr. Myers. In answer to a juror, Detective Browne said Mr. Myers had not boen notified, as he was away before it was deoided to hold the inquest. The inquest was adjourned till Monday next, at the Oxford Hotel, at 10 a.m.
