Mr. Justice Gillies on his Dignity.
LBt Tbugrafh.] [unitid pek6b association.] Auckland, 23rd December. At the Snpreme Conrt sitting in Chambers, his Honour Mr. Justice Gillies dismissed the application in the oaBO of Harding v. Bnller, for ohange of venno to Wellington, beoause it was addressed to "Judge Gillies," not to "Mr. Justice Gillies." He remarked that it had of lato become the oustom to spoak of Judges of the Supreme Court and Judgea of the Native Lands Courts and Diatriot Courts by tho one title "Judge," and as he felt bound to uphold the dignity of the Bench, ho should in future refnso to receive nil applioations bo addrcßßod. He did not oare himself personally, but he must preserro the proper title of his offioo. Newspaper rei porters and others mijfht oall him lT Jndife," but he would not allow it in an official doonment.
