The Quarantined Circus.

Auckland, 23rd September, ljie Mayor telegraphed to-day the facts of t&j? case tp the Government relative to Fryer* Ciroca, detained in pursuance of an Order in Council absolutely prohibiting the importation of live stock from the 'uniteJl States. The Mayor represented the rriin which the prohibition would bring upon the proprietors of the circus animals. To this representation the following reply was receired ; — " Deeply regret total impossibility of permitting eirons animals to land on New Zealand Boil. They moßt bo kept afloat nntn taken ont of New Zealand wators. Faith mnat be kept with the Australian Colonies, or their markets cose to our stock.
P. A. Bucklei ." The ordor is iantamonnt to a confiscation of the Circus Company's property. The company can do nothing ; £600 was paid for the paessges down, and the company are completely stuck, boiag unable to perform here, or to go on or to go baok. The proprietors had no means of acquainting themaelves beforehand with the existence of such a law. The captain of the steamer was ignorant of it.
