TRIAL OF THE HOTHAM BANK ROBBER. [ekdtee's tkleoeams.] (Received September 24, 1 a.m.) Melbourne, 23rd September. The trial of Seymour Robinson for tho robbery of the Hotham branch of the Feberal Bank was concluded to-day, when the prisoner was sentenced, to twelve months' imprisonment.

The Cabinet have decided to join New Zealand in subsidising a San Francisco mail service, the amount paid by New South Wales to be £7000 per annum. A case of smallpox has made its appearance at Randwick. The whole of the members of the family in whioh it occurred have been placed in quarantine. Sailed, last night— Hanroto, for Wellington. The Steam Navigation Board recommend the Government to despatch a stoamor to the locality where the Gulf of Carpentaria was recently wrecked, in order to search for the sunken rock upon which she is believed to have struck.
