THE FOOTBALL SMOKE CONCERT. TO THE EDITOR.
Sib— My attention has been called to a portion of the report of tho Poneke Football and Crioket Club ooncert in your issue of Tuesday last. You state—" It waa expeoted that the East Christohuroh team and those of the Merivale Club who had remained behind wonld have been present. Tiokets were sent to eaoh gentleman, but in the course of the day were returned," Ac, &o. Our reason for not attending the concert was that ws were not asked to go nntil 7 p.m. on the evening the oonoert was to take plaoe, when Mr. Beck, tho secretary,' brought tickets for my team, which I was obliged to decline, as at that time other arrangements had been made for tho evening. Mr. Beck expressed regret that, through an oversight, wo had not boon asked sooner. We should have been only too happy to havo been present at the concert had we received earlior notice of it. lam, Ac., Fbkd. Ftjllkb, Captain, East Chriatohurch Football Team. Chrißtohuroh, 18th Sept., 1885.
