Orange Anniversary Celebration.
__? The annual fete of the various loyal Orange lodges in this city wm celebrated l*st evening at the Rechabite Hall, and was, as ia usual, a most pronounced suooeng. Th» oelebration, which was under the Loyal Orange Lodge No. 16, took the form of a social |3a, which was followed by a concert, congisCng of selections of rocal and instrumental minio. The hall waa most tastefully decorated with, flags and evergreens, and the Orangompn may be congratulated on the capital catering, whioh was undertaken by themselves. ¦ The \/ tables were presided over by Mesdamea Lennel, Morris, Thorley, Johnson, Yopmans, Carter, Hill, and Miss Thorley. At the conclusion of the tea, the h»U w«a cleared for the concert. The chair Was taken by Mr. F. H. Fraser, who, prior to the commencement of the musical portion of the entertainment, addressed those present on the advantages of the order, and counselled the brethren to use their best efforts to uphold' the religious liberties which had been beqaeafcbed to them. The anniversary was in celebration •f tho battle of the Boyno. In the reign of King William HI. religious and oiril libjerty was founded, as alto was the freedom o£ the press. The Chairman concluded by quoting the following words of Latimer: ''Be of good comfort, and play the man. BjJ&od'a grace we shall to-night light a candle iithiob, WJU never be put out." The programing consisted of duets by Messrs. Harlana and. < M'lntoah (basion and oboe), and Mewrs. M'lntosh and Baker (clarinets), the V ' ->- taking the place of the Rev. P. N. Hun who, we regret to say, is seriously ill. '. vocalists were Mrs. M'lntosh, Misses Rand Smith, Warren, Messrs. Goeder, Prouse, Baker. An apology was made for the genoe of Mr. Richer, who had sustain bereavemen); in his family. Mr. C. D, iotosh officiated as Qonduotor, and U exertions the success of the conceit fti Mr. HarUnd presided at the piapo wit usual ability. During the evening the L. M. I«itt gave a spirited address Orangeism. Hearty votes of thanks accorded to the chairman, the ladie presided at tbe various tea tables, the and gentlemen who had assisted at t cert, and to the press. The prooe terminated by the singing of the N& Anthem. - ___ —
