In the Houbc this afternoon, Mr. Fishor gave notico that on Wednesday next ho would move for a Select Committee to enqnire into the advisableness of entering into private contracts for part of the printing required to be dono by the Government. Ho also gave notice to ask whether the Government have considered the letter of the Wellington Harbour Board on the subject of granting endowments to that body, and, if so, whether they are in a position to return a favourable answer to that letter ? Mr. Fisher asked tho Government why tho contraot of Messrs. Tay ton and Erskine, for tho supply, for a period of 12 months, of wines, spirits, and beer, to the Wellington Hospital, was terminated when six weeks only of tho contraot time had expired ? Mr. Tolo, in reply, read a memo, from tho Colonial Secretary's office, the effect of whioh was (so far as could be gathered) that Dr. Cnilton had accepted the tender without authority. Mr. Tole said an enquiry was now boing' instituted into the matter.
