Auckland, This Dat. Shortly after midnight a fire broke out in a two-story wooden shop in Victoria-street occupied by Dare, draper, and extended eastward along the two-storey block ocoupied by Slaney, jeweller, and Somers, tobaoconist, and westward along the two-story blocks | oponpied by J. brown, fishmonger, Mettams, I tinsmith and plumber, Mrs. Crawlev, grocer, and Matthew Carr, bootmaker. The Fire Brigade cot the fire under control in twenty minutes, the total destruction being confined to Dare's premises. Brown's premises, on the west, were gutted, and those of Slaney and Somers were partially destroyed. Other tenements were damaged through the fire running through the roof, and also by water in the interior. The estimated damaga is £4000. Latest Commercial Telegrams. •> The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agenoy Company (Limited) have received the following telegram from their London offioe, dated 30th ultimo :— " Tallow.— ls dull of sale ; mutton is worth 30s and beef 29s per owt.
