At the inquest held on Stanley, who fell through a skylight at the City Hotel, a verdict of Acoidental Death was returned, with a recommendation that a clause should be inserted in the city building regulations by whioh skylights should be guarded by iron bars at a sufficient distance to prevent anyone from falling through. Gibbobkx, 30th May. Mr. John Thomson, 8.E., of New Plfmouth, has been appointed harbour engineer, with a salary of £800 a year.
