New Zealand securities are quoted to-day as follows : — 5 per cent. 10-40 loan, 104J ; 5 per cent. 1889 loan, 105J ; 4$ per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 104$; 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 104}. Adelaide -wheat, ex store, is unchanged at 365, and New Zealand ditto at 31s to 345. Off coast cargoes of New Zealand wheat are quoted .at 32s Gd. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 255. Australian tallow — Average quality beef, 345 ; mutton, 34s Gd. (Received Ootober 30, 1.5 a.m.) London, 29th October. In its issue this morning, the Daily Telegraph states, " on the best authority,'* that the British Government have offered to mediate between France and China, with a view of arriving at a settlement of affairs in the East.
